ABOUT US

Charis Community Church was born in the heart of our late pastor Reverend Efrain Ortiz; a man who loved the Lord above all else and firmly believed in loving and serving those around him. The church was founded in 1976 under different spiritual leaders, until Pastor Ortiz began his tenure in 1988. After his passing in 2020, church members and leadership made it their goal to continue raising a church that loves Jesus and others, serves with joy, and manifests Jesus’ grace. This is how Charis was born.
Charis is led by Jocabed Robles (Pastor J) and her husband Abraham Robles (Pastor Abe). Pastor J walked at her dad’s side during his 32 years as pastor of the church and is now leading the congregation and responding to God’s call on her life. Their work blends a modern Pentecostal and Christ-centered approach to ministry, seeking to worship Jesus above all and serving the city of Reading.
